Get InvolvedParents

An exciting new program has been developed to help children understand the need for compassion and empathy as part of the work of Finnegan’s Challenge. Created with the purpose of making the peers of children born with birth defects understand that while some children may have different physical issues, everyone needs to be treated with caring and compassion.

Situational scenarios help parents, children and teachers understand the challenge that face children with different needs by using real world experiences.

Parents can also participate in Finnegan’s Challenge by sharing their stories of how they have navigated a path with their unique circumstances. Early research conducted by the ETSU College of Education indicates that families who share their stories, not only help others but also feel a sense of unity and togetherness. By sharing your story you become a valuable resource to others.
